Sarah and Jared

Engagement Session

A few weeks ago Sarah and Jared had their engagement session with MCG Photography.

Their wedding will be held this fall at Magnolia Plantation. Sarah’s favorite color is orange and it will be incorporated into all aspects of their day.

They are hoping for a garden party style reception- and we of course are glad to oblige!

Aren’t they adorable?!

Many thanks to MCG ; Sarah and Jared for sharing their images with us!

Anne and Steve

The Ocean Course on Kiawah

March 5, 2011

We are so excited to have started the Spring wedding season with Anne and Steve!

Their ceremony was held on the lawn of the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, overlooking the beach and ocean.

We framed off the ceremony area with urns filled with pink hydrangea and regional grasses.

It was a perfect spring day, blue sky, beautiful sunset, and warm ocean breezes.

Anne carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, wrapped with remnants of her mothers wedding gown.

The bride’s beach girl side was incorporated into the gorgeous cake with edible sea shells, by Elaine Mincey.

Many thanks to the Ocean Course staff, Olive Productions, Artistic Eye Productions and Williams Duo for making their day extra special!

Congratulations to Anne and Steve! Best of Luck to you both!

Antwan did good!

Insider Scoop: Wedding Planners

Elizabeth Baggett

January 20th, 2011

With all of the recently engaged couples running around this month, we thought it was the perfect time to get some insider information from one of our favorite wedding planners, Cindy Zingerella of Engaging Events in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina! Cindy not only orchestrates some of the Charleston area’s most gorgeous events, she’s a tremendous resource for all things wedding-related.

Cindy, what exactly does a wedding planner do for a bride?

Wedding planners help brides turn their vision into a realistic event design, from managing your budget, to handling logistics and timelines with your vendors, to ensuring a seamless flow to your wedding day. We guide our clients on etiquette, take care of mailing save-the-dates and invitations, and smooth out all the “hiccups” that may happen, allowing you to relax and enjoy your day. During the planning process we keep you organized, problem solve, and in general try to make the planning process as much fun as it can be!

If my budget is tight, can a wedding planner still help me?

Absolutely. In fact if your budget is tight that is exactly why you should hire a planner! We can help you spend the money you do have wisely, avoiding costly pitfalls. One of the biggest mistakes we see couples make is not deciding to hire a planner until after they’ve booked a venue. Most couples are so excited about nailing down the perfect place on the perfect date that they don’t fully understand the impact that the venue selection can have on their overall budget. There are many, many costs that are directly associated with each venue’s parameters – venues can dictate everything from which caterer you can select to the types of florals you use – and an experienced wedding planner is an invaluable resource for navigating this potential minefield. In fact, we see many clients that have to forego items on their wish list simply because they didn’t understand the cost ramifications of the venue they chose.

Any more “insider” tips?

Of course! Many planners are given unpublished discounts by vendors they work with often, which allows their clients to take advantage of some pretty fabulous cost savings that aren’t available to brides on their own! So if you’re particularly budget-minded, a wedding planner will be able to present you with cost effective choices you might not otherwise have known about.

What tips do you have for brides to make the most of their wedding day?

Work with your planner in advance taking care of the preplanning details and then let them do what they do best- run your day. Let this be a special time for you, your new husband and your family – take the time to enjoy them and your friends. You pay your planner to manage your day for you, so let them take care of the details while you sit back, relax, and take in all that your special day has to offer. You will be happy you did!

Spectacular Departures

There are many traditions and rituals performed during the celebration of marriage, and the getaway car is one of my favorites!

So many choices and decorating options, its such a fun way to end the night!

After guests say their good-bye’s what better way to announce the newlyweds to the rest of the world than with the clamor of tin cans and a “Just Married” sign!

A classic way to leave in style is in Rolls Royce.

The best part about a getaway car is it doesn’t have to be a car at all!

Kristin and Ryan left in a  decorated golf cart!

Kristen and John chose to have their golf cart decorated with a cute sign, tulle, and even Christmas lights!

Horse drawn carriages are another alternative to the traditional car.

In Charleston we are lucky to have unique  getaway options.

The bicycle taxi’s known in Charleston as the Rickshaw are great because they are affordable and environmentally friendly!

Another favorite is Charleston Black Cab.  These classic and antique looking cabs came straight from London!

Ashley and John were married at St. James Church on James Island- this has been Ashley’s families church for many years….

As guests arrived to the reception,

they were greeted with Blueberry vodka and Sprite (Ashley’s favorite!) served in mason jars on the Engaging Events drink tower.

The Wedding cake was displayed as a trio of cakes each  a different flavor, Red Velvet, Vanilla Cake with Raspberry filling and Vanilla Cake with Lemon Bavarian Cream Filling. Each Cake was iced with  Cream Cheese and Buttercream.

In addition to cake, there was also a candy bar!

The candy bar was filled with Hershey Kisses, Hershey Nuggets, Rock Candy, Mints, Salt Water Taffy and Almonds.

All coordinating with the Navy, Silver and White color scheme!

John’s Island Presbyterian Church & Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

November 6, 2010

Kristin and John were married at the beautiful John’s Island Presbyterian Church.

The church was built in 1719 so you can imagine how much character this church has!

The reception was at the Ocean Course on Kiawah.  Guest’s enjoyed Arnold Palmer’s, shrimp and grits, and oyster Rockefeller just to name a few of the tasty treats!

Kristen’s bouquet was filled with garden roses and tulips and wrapped in her grandmother’s handkerchief (something borrowed!).

Jim Smeal did a wonderful job replicating the lace pattern from Kristin’s dress onto the delicious cake.

Even though it was little chilly, that didn’t stop everyone from dancing the night away! Even Cody and Jake stopped by for the fun!

Best of Luck and Congratulations Kristen and John!!!!
