As your Charleston wedding planners, we’re here to help you choose your wedding ceremony music. The type of instruments you choose can be a fun part of the planning. We often suggest a solo guitarist, or a trio of strings, The instruments you select can help set the tone for your day!
Prelude
The prelude begins when guests start arriving to your ceremony and take their seats. Traditionally, this is often soft instrumental. Some brides like the tradition of classical selections and some really enjoy the laid back feel of more contemporary selections. A few Charleston wedding planner favorites are: Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Air on the G String by Bach, How Sweet It Is by James Taylor and Better Together by Jack Johnson. As your Charleston wedding planner, we often suggest you pick a style of music (classical or contemporary) and then let the musicians choose the songs they play. It gives yours musicians a chance to be creative and really enjoy what they are playing.
Processional
The processional begins when parents, grandparents and bridal party walk down the aisle to take their place for the ceremony. Again, this traditionally is instrumental but can also be well-known love songs. We typically break the processional up into three different songs. The first is for parents and grandparents. Ave Maria is always a popular choice. The second song is for the bridal party as they walk in. We often see couples use Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole or A Thousand Years by Christina Perry. The third and final processional song is the bride and the lucky person or persons walking her down the aisle! Cannon in D by Pachelbel and Can’t Help Falling in Love by Haley Reinhart seem to always be in the running.
Recessional
The bride and groom walk down the aisle as husband and wife for the first time! The song selection here is more upbeat as a celebration and introduction to the wedding reception. This Will Be (An Ever Lasting Love) and Here Comes the Sun are two popular choices.
