Taylor and Emily had been together for 4 years before their destination wedding this past Fall at Patriots Point Links. The duo met as seniors at West Virginia University in 2017 and then relocated after graduation to North Carolina. Taylor planned a romantic proposal just the two of them in their first apartment right in front of the Christmas tree in December 2020. Emily couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas gift!
Their wedding took place on a perfect Fall afternoon in Charleston where the weather was cool and sunny with a light coastal breeze. The Engaging Events team wove autumnal accents throughout the design starting with burnt orange bridesmaids’ dresses and continued with pops of rust-colored roses in the ladies’ bouquets. Magnolia leaves, a favorite of the bride, we’re pulled into the centerpieces as the perfect finishing touch.
The outdoor ceremony took place on the banks of the Charleston Harbor where the bride’s grandmother, who also painted the artwork for the couple’s save the dates, officiated over their vows. “We both felt so at peace the day of the wedding and were able to enjoy the celebration with our family and friends that traveled from all over,” recalled Emily. Her advice to the couple’s planning a Lowcountry wedding is, “Lean on all the loved ones around you and don’t stress the small stuff. Take in as many moments as you can to just stop and look around. Take it all in because it goes by quickly.”
