WHAT IS A CONTENT CREATOR?
Within the last few years, the wedding industry has been introduced to a whole new way of capturing the many moments that encompass a couple’s special day. The addition of wedding content creators to the average vendor list has revolutionized the creative landscape. Content creators- not to be confused with photographers and videographers- are becoming increasingly more popular, as they are known to capture the details that are often left out of professional photographer and videographer content. One of the purposes of hiring a content creator is to help create content for social media platforms, such as Instagram or TikTok, by producing unique, short videos. In a world where we live through social media, having content to post at some of life’s biggest moments is very important to some. Hiring a content creator to capture more candid moments during the wedding can be more personal than the completely “picture-perfect” moments that a photographer/videographer captures.

PRO’S OF HIRING A CONTENT CREATOR
Turnaround Time
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and is one that is frequently reminisced upon. Once your wedding concludes, there is not only a sense of happiness that you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend, but there is also a sense of sadness when you realize your wedding festivities have come to an end. With photographers and videographers, there is a long turnaround time to get your pictures and videos back to share, typically 6-8 weeks. The quick turnaround time of a content creator, which is typically around 48-72 hours, allows you to reminisce on some of the most unplanned, exciting things that happened on your special day, promptly.
Creativity and Trends
The use of a content creator as a vendor for your wedding can also help your own personal style shine through. By capturing creative, spur of the moment tidbits through the day, a content creator can document the many little things that are easily overlooked. Along with this, there are plenty of trends that are constantly evolving throughout social media. A content creator can almost act as a social media manager for you on the day of your wedding. By incorporating captivating photos, trends, and music through your social media, the appeal to the latest trends, will draw in a larger audience.
Budgeting
As most know, weddings are nothing short of expensive. With this being said, picking vendors and budgeting every part of your wedding day can be very stressful. We are seeing more and more that videographers are being used at almost every wedding. Although we can capture weddings in a still motion with photographs, we also crave the vision of actually seeing the event taking place- the music playing, the laughs shared, and the special words said. It is no surprise, however, that hiring a videographer is not cheap. A typical videographer could charge anywhere between $4,000 and $5,000. For those who have a tighter budget and aren’t willing to spend as much on videography, yet aren’t willing to lose all those special moments in a memory, hiring a content creator could be a good in-between. A content creator could cost anywhere between $900 and $1,200, which is a fraction of the price of a videographer. Additionally, if your budget is not as strict, I don’t think you could go wrong by having both a videographer and a content creator to capture the entirety of your day.
Ease of Experience
Typically, a family member or close friend will be the one to capture all the little moments that the videographer misses. Whether this be more clips of the getting ready process, the spur of the moment decisions, or even the after party, content creators are hired to take over this position for a family member or friend. This allows everyone to enjoy their time on this special day and appreciate every moment.

CON’S OF HIRING A CONTENT CREATOR
Vendor Communication
When you are working with multiple vendors, especially those responsible for catching your event on camera, the process can get a bit hectic. If the communication and logistics between photographers, videographers, and content creators aren’t polished, there’s a chance your content may not come back the way you were hoping. Typically, the order in which each vendor takes priority shot is photographer, videographer, then content creator. With this being said, each vendor must communicate their positions for each shot, as well as the timing they are shooting for.
Vision Execution
Not only is vendor communication imperative, but so is the communication between you, the couple, and the content creator. If you aren’t specific about the kind of content you enjoy and the kind that you dislike, the results can end up being unsatisfactory. When spending a decent amount of money to hire a content creator, the content being returned must be up to your standards and specifications.
Quality Control
When creating high-quality content as a content creator, it’s not only important for these vendors to stay up-to-date with current trends in the industry, but also to produce content that is consistent and appealing. Whether this means having decent lighting and angles, to editing using updated techniques and skills, the pressure on a content creator is very substantial. With this being said, and because of the very recent development of this unique vendor, there are causes for concern for couples who are choosing to hire a content creator.

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. There are many little moments that make your day absolutely perfect, and it’s those little moments that are often forgotten. For some, hiring a photographer, videographer, and content creator allows them to reminisce on the many planned and unplanned moments that happened during their wedding day. On the other hand, conflicts stemming from budget, visions, and quality control can pose a burden. As a couple, it is important to understand what is most important to you on your special day- whether that means living in the moment, or having a vendor curate beautiful content to be looked back upon for years to come.
