A Hidden Gem
The Gadsden House is located between East Bay Street and Alexander Street, in downtown Charleston. Located walking distance from several hotels, its location is very convenient for your out of town guests. A large, greenery-covered wrought iron gate is the backdrop of the courtyard where the band or DJ will have you busting out your best dance moves. The inside of the venue provides a chic, but relatively blank canvas for you to decorate to your own tastes. The Specs
Just looking at The Gadsden House clues you in to the history and care that went into crafting this stunning piece of architecture. With multiple carefully manicured courtyards that are intimate, despite being in the center of the city, there are plenty of perfect spaces to set up for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancefloor across the landscape.
The courtyards are adorned with a mix of bluestone, Charleston brick, and oyster tabby surfaces, and dotted with Magnolias, crepe myrtles, and palm trees to create an intimate and warm setting. The property brings a little bit of Lowcountry to an otherwise urban atmosphere. Outdoor events can also count on the (optional) reliable and custom-tailored outdoor tenting, if needed. The stunning views from the traditional Southern piazzas, which are complete with classic blue ceilings and ornate fixtures, is a welcome touch to round out the gorgeous appeal of the venue.
Inside, the classy, luxurious design elements continue throughout the house. The four stunning parlors include original heart pine flooring, floor to ceiling windows, classic fireplaces, neutral decor to suit the color scheme of any wedding, and breathtaking crystal chandeliers.
Indoor events can hold up to eighty guests for ceremonies and, if used in tandem with the outdoor areas, can host two hundred and fifty individuals for receptions.
One of the most important parts of wedding day prep is where you’re getting ready! You can be sure, at The Gadsden House, that the beautiful and accommodating his and hers bridal suites are perfect for creating a relaxing atmosphere where you can prepare for your big day.
The Gadsden House Experience
The Gadsden House provides the complete wedding experience. The venue staff are well-versed in what is required for your wedding day and have fine-tuned what they offer to assist luxury wedding planners and their clients in streamlining the planning process for a perfectly planned event.
With your venue rental, you get full use of the courtyard gardens, piazzas, parlor rooms, and furnished bridal suite, starting at 9:30 AM the day of the event. The furnished groom’s suite opens five hours before the start of the ceremony. You may use the space for the entire duration of the event, until 10 PM on Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 PM on weekends. Of course, as your wedding planner, we’ll create a timeline that perfectly suits your wedding’s needs.
All food for your cocktail hour and wedding reception will be provided by the venue’s management team, King Street Hospitality Group, as they are the sole providers of food and beverages for their properties. That being said, you’re welcome to bring in a wedding cake from a fabulous, licensed baker of your choice!
