Children and weddings.. should they be involved or not? This isn’t always an easy yes or no answer for a lot of couples. For some, they can’t imagine their day without having their own children or nieces and nephews participating in the fun. For others, they can’t imagine having children running around on their wedding day, period. And finally, for the couples who are on the fence, here are a few ways to consider involving kids during your ceremony!
Flower Girl and Ring Bearer
We’ll start with the obvious and most popular, the flower girl and/or ring bearer. We’ve found that these role is perfect for most kids over the age of 4. They will love heading down the aisle and they will be sure to put smiles on your guests’ faces! For extra laughs, you can even send them with an adorable sign. Depending on their age, you may want to save a seat or two in the front row with a family member. For the big kids, they may want to stand up at the altar with the wedding party.
Sand Ceremony or Lighting The Unity Candle
Having a sand ceremony or lighting a unity candle is perfect for families who may have started out separately but are now ready to come together as one. You can make it your own by changing the colors of the sand, where it came from, and the vessel you pour it into. The same can be said for a unity candle ceremony. Combining single flames into one will signify a marriage or family uniting.
