About The Location
Middleton Place is a national historic landmark and has become an important part of the American experience. It’s recognized as being an unforgettable location for weddings. In particular, there are views of meticulously manicured gardens gushing with color and sculpted terraces.
In addition, you can see the Ashley River, centuries-old oak trees draped in moss, the Iconic House Museum, and an array of unique indoor and outdoor spaces that are great for both weddings and receptions. Best of all, it features a 55-room Inn, making it one of Charleston’s most treasured wedding venues.
The Inn
A historical treasure and modern escape, The Inn is nestled among tall pine trees and centuries old live oak trees along the Ashley River. An award-winning inn, it offers guests a stunning location to just get away from the rest of the world. It has an environmentally conscious and modern design and blends into the natural environment very well with all the beautiful surroundings. There are seasonal fireplaces, cypress wood paneling, and windows from floor to ceiling. The views of the sweeping river from the inn are breathtaking.
The Middleton Place Restaurant
Middleton Place also features a seasonal, local low country fare restaurant inspired by the recipes and spirit of Edna Lewis, who was a former resident and renowned south chef. The food is fresh, local, organic, and seasonal. The food is harvested fresh on-site and there is an organic farm and gardens that can be visited.

They resemble butterfly wings that extend beyond the Ashley River. The Octagonal Garden overlooks the Ashley River with manicured Boxwoods adorn the pathways and live oaks dripping with Spanish moss are visible from every vantage point. The capacity for both locations is 400 people. Other ceremony options to consider would be The Secret Gardens, Middleton Oak, Crane Pool and The Stableyards
Receptions take place at The Pavilion in a 4,700 square foot building. You will have views of Eliza’s House, The House Museum, the Greensward, and more. At The Pavilion, you’ll quickly see that’s versatile enough for formal dinners or even cocktail receptions with the ability to be expanded with tents. The capacity is roughly 200 people.
