My experience with Cindy (and her staff) at Engaging Events was very positive in all aspects. I approached Cindy, by telephone, on short notice and was somewhat concerned if she would be able to put in place what I envisioned (due to the short time-frame). However, at our very first meeting, this concern was alleviated. She was very organized and efficient and stayed on-task throughout the entire project. I would highly recommend Cindy if you are looking for someone that demonstrates professionalism and honesty. She always provided her opinions as needed… but, never lost sight of the fact that this was ‘my event’ and therefore, stayed focused on creating what I wanted. I think this is sometimes lost with event planners – the end-result is often what they envision… not what the client envisions. On the day of the event, I knew Cindy was always nearby if I needed her, much like a good friend would be there for you. I actually didn’t need anything, because all was taken care of by her and her staff. However, it was comforting to know that she was right there if a need did arise. Cindy and her staff were a pleasure to work with and she helped to create such a wonderful day filled with treasured memories for my husband and me. Our family and friends had a wonderful time and the feedback from them was all very positive. The words ‘memorable’ and ‘magical’ and ‘beautiful’ were the ones most cited. I couldn’t agree more! Thank you Cindy and everyone who helped create my/our special day! I am so glad that I hired Engaging Events!

20 Year Vow Renewal
June 16, 2011
The Sanctuary, Kiawah Island Resort
We were thrilled to be the planners for a 20 year vow renewal in June at The Sanctuary.
It was a beautiful day for a special couple, and their wonderful family and friends. Their story is a truly romantic one,
to simply renew the promises they made 20 years ago, overlooking the ocean, a setting that has been so much a part of their past.
They chose a cake that was inspired from basket designs of American Indians- a part of their heritage.
Many thanks to Elaine Mincey for this beautiful and delicious cake.

The guests were greeted with the beautiful aroma of gardenia’s upon arrival to the cocktail hour at the beautiful Ocean Room Restaurant.
Guests were treated to luxurious table settings including silk linens, hammered glass charger plates with gold rim,
letterpressed menu cards presented in ivory bengaline napkins and once again the beautiful aroma of a gardenia.
The table names were street’s the couple had lived on in the past or had special meaning to them.
They were presented on a 100% cotton paper calligraphied by Gayle Hilton of Calligraphy by Request.

Following dinner- the adults moved to the Grand Oaks Ballroom for Candlelight Dancing. They were treated to rich ivory tones and textures,
with lounge seating areas, Cabaret Seating, gorgeous flowers and dramatic floral tree’s with hanging crystals and votive candles.

It was a beautiful June evening, so having access to the patio from the Grand Oaks Ballroom was an added treat.
Engaging Events lounge furniture, lamps, additional cabaret tables and fabric draping from the pergola above
created a cozy welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening.

We were so glad to be a part of their special day and want to thank the wonderful staff of the Sanctuary,
Eventworks, Snyder Event Rentals, and Kenneth from Presentation Services for all of their help, and products to assist us in creating such a gorgeous event.
Lanier and Kyle
Holy Spirit Catholic Church and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

We were so happy to be a part of Lanier and Kyle’s wedding! They had a gorgeous day and they and their families had a fantastic time!
Lanier and Kyle wanted to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere – with an organic and rustic yet polished design.
Their Wedding Cake- Created by Elaine Mincey- included Elaine’s beautfiul sugar magnolia’s for the taste of the South;
as well as a free form design in the icing keeping with the theme of a relaxed but polished look.

One of the elements of the Ocean Course Lanier and Kyle loved best was its beautiful landscape and view of the ocean.
While they wanted a finished/polished look they didn’t want to take away from that relaxed and comfortable feel you get when on the veranda of the Ocean Course.
With Judy Johnston’s help (our florist) we created centerpieces of wheat, sand and moss mimicking the sea oats, sand and grass of its surroundings.

Guests were greeted by a placecard display in Engaging Events boxes filled with split peas and adorned with lanterns and candles.

For the Dinner, Lanier and Kyle chose sage linens, burlap runners, ivory napkins and ecletic budvases with a variety of blooms and herbs;
including-ranunculous, stock, peonies, garden roses, thyme, rosemary and basil. Mahogany chivari chairs helped in giving the room that polished look.

The tent was simple and elegant as well- utilizing Engaging Events crystal chandeliers,
sofa seating areas and a rented mahogany dance floor from Eventworks- where they danced the night away under the stars.

We were so happy to get to know Lanier and Kyle’s families-
Many thanks to Candice and the Ocean Course staff for the fabulous job they do!
Charlotte and Ty
The Ocean Course at Kiawah
April 16, 2011

Charlotte and Ty were married on beautiful Kiawah Island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was an incredibly windy day,
however, it was also a wonderful day because the prediction of rain never materialized- and we were all so thrilled.

Charlotte chose a color palette of apple green, pink and some seersucker in blue. It was a great color scheme for spring
and I think Charlotte’s soft and pretty style and Ty’s preppy style were merged wonderfully – creating a beautiful day!

They and their guests enjoyed cocktails on the patio and tent, followed by dinner in the Atlantic Room,
then back outside to the tent to dance the nite away.

It was a wonderful evening and we were so thrilled to be part of it.
Congratulations Charlotte and Ty!
Lindsay and Andrew
The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island
April 2, 2011

Lindsay and Andrew were married at John’s Island Presbyterian Church just outside of Kiawah Island.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and dancing at the Ocean Course.
Lindsay and Andrew’s cake, by Elaine Mincey, was a focal point in the Atlantic room for guests to admire during dinner.

Judy Johnston of Engaging Events did a beautiful job on the centerpieces of garden roses, thistle, and pincushion proteas.
displayed in different size wood containers and shadowboxes..

After dinner there was dancing in the tent which was decorated with custom fabric pillows and candle centerpieces.
Tan fabric was draped from the ceiling of the tent and navy linens with coral flower bud vases continued the tan, navy and coral color scheme.

We used the custom fabric to cover the lounge furniture so guest could enjoy the spectacular views and ocean breeze.
Best of luck to you both! Congratulations Lindsay and Andrew!
And many thanks to Collette Mruk for the wonderful images!

Rehearsal Dinner
Osprey Point at Kiawah Island
April 1, 2011

Lindsay and Andrew held their rehearsal dinner at Osprey Point on Kiawah.
Andrew’s love for oysters was the theme for the grooms cake, created by Elaine Mincey.
Lindsay surprised Andrew with a personalized oyster knife engraved with his initials and their wedding date!
It was the perfect gift on the eve of their wedding which also happened to be Andrew’s Birthday- Happy Birthday Andrew!

The Patio overlooking the lagoons and landscape of Osprey Point served as the location for the Cocktail Hour before dinner,
as well as the reception area for the Welcome Celebration that followed the dinner.

Many of our clients have an intimate dinner for immediate family and bridal party followed by a fun reception inviting all of their out of town guests!
Osprey Point proved to be the perfect venue and layout for just such an event.
