Abbey and Joseph

The Thomas Bennett House

July 3, 2011

We are thrilled to Congratulate Abbey and Joseph on their recent nuptials at the Thomas Bennett House.

Abbey found a print fabric she loved, early on in the planning, and it became the inspiration for much of her design.

We enlisted Studio R Designs to help us with the wedding invitations,

wedding programs and featured below- the bands and seals for her specialty drink.

The Dance tent brought all the design elements together- two shades of green, white, the inspirational print fabric

and all the blush flowers she loved. Here you see the tent draped with green fabric by the Engaging Events Crew- and lit with

our Custom Drum Shades covered in her inspirational fabric. We had our tailor create throw pillows in the inspirational fabric for the lounge

seating area’s; and table  runners that we used throughout the reception.

Also shown here (from a distance) are our glass cylinders covered with a vellum containing the design from the inspirational fabric-  they

were  beautiful during full daylight as shown here, and once the sun went down they added to the romance of the setting…..

The all white dance floor- really set off the dance tent as well- Thanks to Snyder Event Rentals!

Our own Judy Johnston- searched and recovered some vintage milk glass vases as containers for the centerpieces.

Abbey loved dahlia’s, lisianthus, roses and rice flower in  blush pinks, cream and pale green .

The wedding cake was also inspired from the fabric- as well as the palmetto roses that were on Abbey’s dress….

Many thanks to Elaine Mincey for another beautiful (and delicious) creation!

The First and Second Floors of the Thomas Bennett House were the setting for a dinner of food stations served tapas style following the ceremony.

Many thanks to Good Food Catering for the Scrumptious Meal!

We wish Abbey and Joseph many years of happiness…..Congratulations!

20 Year Vow Renewal

June 16, 2011

The Sanctuary, Kiawah Island Resort

We were thrilled to be the planners for a 20 year vow renewal in June at The Sanctuary.

It was a beautiful day for a special couple, and their wonderful family and friends. Their story is a truly romantic one,

to simply renew the promises they made 20 years ago, overlooking the ocean, a setting that has been so much a part of their past.

They chose a cake that was inspired from basket designs of American Indians- a part of their heritage.
Many thanks to Elaine Mincey for this beautiful and delicious cake.

The guests were greeted with the beautiful aroma of gardenia’s upon arrival to the cocktail hour at the beautiful Ocean Room Restaurant.

Guests were treated to luxurious table settings including silk linens, hammered glass charger plates with gold rim,

letterpressed menu cards presented in ivory bengaline napkins and once again the beautiful aroma of a gardenia.

The table names were street’s the couple had lived on in the past or had special meaning to them.

They were presented on a 100% cotton paper calligraphied by Gayle Hilton of Calligraphy by Request.

Following dinner- the adults moved to the Grand Oaks Ballroom for Candlelight Dancing. They were treated to rich ivory tones and textures,

with lounge seating areas, Cabaret Seating, gorgeous flowers and dramatic floral tree’s with hanging crystals and votive candles.

It was a beautiful June evening, so having access to the patio from the Grand Oaks Ballroom was an added treat.

Engaging Events lounge furniture, lamps, additional cabaret tables and fabric draping from the pergola above

created a cozy welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening.

Lindsay and Andrew were married at John’s Island Presbyterian Church just outside of Kiawah Island.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and dancing at the Ocean Course.

Lindsay and Andrew’s cake, by Elaine Mincey, was a focal point in the Atlantic room for guests to admire during dinner.

Judy Johnston of Engaging Events did a beautiful job on the centerpieces of garden roses, thistle, and pincushion proteas.

displayed in different size wood containers and shadowboxes..

After dinner there was dancing in the tent which was decorated with custom fabric pillows and candle centerpieces.

Tan fabric was draped from the ceiling of  the tent and navy linens with coral flower bud vases continued the tan, navy and coral color scheme.

We used the custom fabric to cover the lounge furniture so guest could enjoy the spectacular views and ocean breeze.

Best of luck to you both! Congratulations Lindsay and Andrew!

And many thanks to Collette Mruk for the wonderful images!

We were so happy to be a part of Chloe and Preston’s Wedding…they are a super couple

and their wedding had so many wonderful unique touches!

 Blog blog4

Their ceremony took place under the big beautiful oak at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation -

overlooking the Ashley River. We utilized Charleston Gates covered with spanish moss, greenery, dendrobium orchids

and planter boxes filled with cream hydrangae as the backdrop for their ceremony.

Their guests enjoyed the ceremony from the authentic Church Pews,

shaded with umbrella’s and decorated with mason jars filled with flowers.

The Inside of the Carriage House featured the chandeliers decorated with spanish moss, greenery and white blossoms.

We utilized soft aqua blue color linen with an apple green linen and natural wood chairs for a soft and pretty atmosphere.

Engaging Events added to the look by draping fabric over the doorways,

and utilizing sweet grass baskets as containers for her wildflowers.

Chloe’s dress and the location were a big inspiration in much of the design.

Studio R created save the dates, invitations and these great bands and seals for her specialty drink

utilizing the lace pattern from her dress and the magnolia blossom to represent  the location.

Elaine Mincey utilized the lace design in the pattern you see on the cake, and then topped it with one of her signature magnolias.

Many thanks to all the vendors who made this nite so magical for Chloe and Preston, and to Taylor Stewart and MCG Photography for the great images!

Erin’s dress had a blue band which is what started their “theme” throughout the planning

We had the blue ribbon band on their “save the dates”, invitations, Cake (more about that below), their welcome    boxes, ceremony programs, and on their specialty drink glasses.

Classic, simple, and elegant!

The Mighty Kicks rocked the crowd & looked good too with the boxwoods & Palm trees to frame them off.
The Engaging Events planter boxes, little white lights and spot lights gave the “stage” area the polished look we love.

We can’t forget about that great lawn with the million dollar view of the harbor!
Erin loved lounge seating ~ so, our ivory sofa’s, fashioned with brown throw pillows, and our end tables,
adorned with the blue damask linens, made that area quite the popular spot!
