Ashley and John were married at St. James Church on James Island- this has been Ashley’s families church for many years….

As guests arrived to the reception,

they were greeted with Blueberry vodka and Sprite (Ashley’s favorite!) served in mason jars on the Engaging Events drink tower.

The Wedding cake was displayed as a trio of cakes each  a different flavor, Red Velvet, Vanilla Cake with Raspberry filling and Vanilla Cake with Lemon Bavarian Cream Filling. Each Cake was iced with  Cream Cheese and Buttercream.

John’s Island Presbyterian Church & Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

November 6, 2010

Kristin and John were married at the beautiful John’s Island Presbyterian Church.

The church was built in 1719 so you can imagine how much character this church has!

The reception was at the Ocean Course on Kiawah.  Guest’s enjoyed Arnold Palmer’s, shrimp and grits, and oyster Rockefeller just to name a few of the tasty treats!

Kristen’s bouquet was filled with garden roses and tulips and wrapped in her grandmother’s handkerchief (something borrowed!).

Jim Smeal did a wonderful job replicating the lace pattern from Kristin’s dress onto the delicious cake.

Even though it was little chilly, that didn’t stop everyone from dancing the night away! Even Cody and Jake stopped by for the fun!

Best of Luck and Congratulations Kristen and John!!!!

Guests were welcomed to the cocktail hour with Charleston gates featuring blue and cream hydrangaes, charleston lanterns,

and an ” Avenue of Oaks” covered with Spanish moss.

The Charleston theme was carried out at dinner with tables named after Charleston Streets,

the Engaging Events team took black and white photo’s of the street signs, matted and framed them –

they have now become a keepsake for the happy couple!

Special thanks to Studio R for the custom monogram which was used throughout the weekend.

The monogram was used on the cake created by Elaine Mincey,  as well as the specialty cocktails, cocktail napkins, invitations etc.

The crowd danced the nite away to the sounds of the Quiana Parler Band , dined on a delectible surf and turf dinner,

and the couple sent their guests off in style with chocolate truffles from Christophe Artisan Chocolates….wow – what a night!

Congratulations again to Briana and Ben! Best wishes to you both!!

Kristen & Scotty’s Wedding

Wedding ~ November 15, 2009

Kristen & Scotty From Greensboro, NC

The Ceremony took place at the First Baptist Church in Downtown Charleston and the reception followed at the Historic Rice Mill.

*Features*  ~ Be sure to check out our new lampshade pendants and the fabulous green draping used on the ceiling of  Rice Mills patio!

Kristen & Scotty’s wedding invitations had the sea oats on them and Elaine Mincey, of Elaines Creative Cakes, carried that through so beautifully onto their cake…

Candlescapes with coffee beans added that cozy aroma as well as incorporating in with the color scheme.  Kristen was actually a little worried at the beginning about her choice in color scheme…she loved coral, apple green, and chocolate brown colors, and how they complimented each other but was concerened that it not end up looking like a spring wedding since it was taking place in November.  I think the way we used the color was a home run!  They each had their place in the design but with some simple creative design elements, we created a truly charming, cozy fall wedding.

The Joe Clarke Quartet provided that big band sound during their reception…

…Kristen & Scotty then finished off their wonderful evening with a horse and carriage ride back to the romantic and charming French Quarter Inn.

Jen & Matt’s Welcome Party

October 22, 2009

Rue De Jean Welcome Party

Jen & Matt are from New Jersey, as are the majority of their wedding guests, so they decided to have a welcome party/Rehearsal Dinner for all the guest that traveled down for the wedding.  Matt’s parents wanted to bring the beach and some of it’s fabulous fall features into the rehearsal party – But, also choose a venue in downtown Charleston.  Upstairs Rue de Jean was decided on but, with no visible water nearby, what was a designer to do?  Well, Judy Johnston and Cindy worked together to bring one of the more visible elements of the beach in the fall to life – Wheat was used to mimic the sea oats and sand, then a little blue color was added to create a very welcoming vibe but also, the Charleston Fall Beach theme that they were hoping for.  And let me tell you, once these were added to the already beautiful exposed brick and wood beams at upstairs Rue de Jean, it really made the wheat and blue colors stand out!

check out the Grooms cake which was done by Elaines Creative Cakes. If you can believe it, the hat at the top of the cupcake stand is an actual cake!!! The Groom is a huge NFL Baltimore Ravens fan so they wanted to incorporate that but in a very unique way...it turned out perfect!
