Arielle and Ret

The Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation

May 31, 2012

A splendid mix of Rustic, and Vintage in Design is the best way to describe Arielle and Ret’s Wedding at Boone Hall Plantation. The front lawn of the main house was the location of the nuptials. We truly enjoyed working with this fun and sweet couple during the whole wedding planning process.

The Wrought Iron Gates served as the altar area where Arielle and Ret exchanged vows with the help of 3 pastors….Arielle’s father, and two of their pastors from their church. We decorated the gates with charleston greenery and a beautiful mix of cream and purple blossoms. the aisle was framed with our shepards hooks with moss covered containers containing stock, orchids, ranunculous, and of course  a little cotton ….can’t be at Boone Hall Plantation and not have some cotton!

The Cotton Dock at Boone Hall was dressed in purple and cream, we used mahogany wood chairs and farm tables as well as wood floral containers.

Guests were greeted with Mojito’s to begin the festivities.

They danced the nite away under the stars on the Dock of the Cotton Dock to the sounds of the Travis Allison Band.

The Veranda at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

May 5, 2012

The Bahama’s are beautiful and quite often the location for many a couple’s destination wedding. This time however, our couple was from the Bahama’s and a true Southern Plantation Wedding was their dream…..We enjoyed wedding planning with Leah and Justin and wish them many years of happiness!

Choosing  a color palette of blush pink, sage green and rustic wood accents – Leah, the Bride, wanted a relaxed, soft and garden style wedding.

She chose the Veranda at Magnolia Plantation as her reception location- with the ceremony held on the White Bridge Lawn ( with one of the most photographed plantation bridges in the world as her backdrop!), and reserved the back lawn behind the main house as well for late evening dancing.

As a unique twist we also reserved the maze garden adjacent to the White Bridge Lawn for a passed hors d’oeuvres, prosecco tower, Lemonade, Sweet Tea, and Cucumber Water Cocktail Hour. Guests enjoyed the cocktail hour here and made their way to the Veranda for dinner as the sun was setting.

The Engaging Events Chalkboard served as a directional sign to guests throughout the evening.

Dinner on the veranda was Family Style, and the decor featured sage green linens, blush pink dupioni runners and napkins. Centerpieces of peonies, garden roses, hydrangae, ranunculous and floating candles were just breathtaking.

Decor: Lighting was composed of Engaging Events pendant lampshades embellished with sage green and pink ribbon; draping of pale pink fabric on the porch columns; and hanging lanterns added to the atmosphere.

After Dinner, guests retired to the dance tent which “blushed” pale pink throughout the evening!

Fun linens from The Total Table had embroidered circles in her pale pink and pale coral scheme. Engaging Events Crystal chandeliers also lit up the tent, while our sofa seating area’s kept the space comfy!

Many thanks to all our vendors that made this event possible: Magnolia Plantation, Atlantic Tents, Eventworks, Elaine Mincey, Relish Catering, The Total Table, BBJ Linens, Lee Edwards Entertainment, Clelia Reardon, Kenneth Campbell of Presentation Services, and as always our wonderful Judy Johnston for her fabulous floral creations!

Bridal Buzz

The amazing Judy Johnston of Engaging Events created some amazing bouquets for the spring photo shoot this issue of Charleston Weddings Magazine!

In addition the magazine they did a feature in this weeks Bridal Buzz.

“Engaging Events (EE) has been creating stunning weddings in the Lowcountry for more than eight years. Cindy Zingerella, owner and lead consultant of the boutique event firm, teams with assistant Jessi Martin and a small army to provide their signature high-end looks delivered with personal service. But none of EE’s soirées or weddings would be complete without their long-time floral designer Judy Johnston. We tapped into Judy’s 20-some years of expertise when it came to putting together the current issue of Charleston Weddings magazine and our fashion shoot bride/model needed a handful of bouquets. “

Cooper River Room

November 5, 2011

Caitlin and Chris were married at St. Andrew’s Church in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant.

They followed up the ceremony with a reception at the Cooper River Room at Mt. Pleasant’s waterfront park. This is a really neat venue and we were excited to be designing an event there. The view is spectacular and the venue is unique and flexible in its use.

In Lieu of a guest book, Caitlin chose to have her guests “Leaf” their signature on their new family tree!

Guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn, followed by dinner in the Cooper River Room- Caitlin’s color scheme was so pretty for fall, charcoal grey and apple/pear green and ivory. We used beautiful button linens from Connie Duglin Linens in ivory accenting them with charcoal grey runners and then Judy our florist helped finish it off with bouquets of green hydrangae.

Guests enjoyed a “Beer Rita” as the specialty drink- yes you guessed it- a margherita meets beer- created by the fabulous crew at Mosaic Catering.

Guests dance the night away to the sounds of Soulfish, in a tent bedazzled with Engaging Events chandeliers, and comfy cozy lounge furniture.

Caitlin, Chris, and all their family and friends had a great time…we wish them many happy years to come….
