Charlotte and Ty

The Ocean Course at Kiawah

April 16, 2011

Charlotte and Ty were married on beautiful Kiawah Island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was an incredibly windy day,

however, it was also a wonderful day because the prediction of rain never materialized- and we were all so thrilled.

Charlotte chose a color palette of apple green, pink and some seersucker in blue. It was a great color scheme for spring

and I think Charlotte’s soft and pretty style and Ty’s preppy style were merged wonderfully – creating a beautiful day!

They and their guests enjoyed cocktails on the patio and tent, followed by dinner in the Atlantic Room,

then back outside to the tent to dance the nite away.

It was a wonderful evening and we were so thrilled to be part of it.

Congratulations Charlotte and Ty!

We are so excited to have started the Spring wedding season with Anne and Steve!

Their ceremony was held on the lawn of the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, overlooking the beach and ocean.

We framed off the ceremony area with urns filled with pink hydrangea and regional grasses.

It was a perfect spring day, blue sky, beautiful sunset, and warm ocean breezes.

Anne carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, wrapped with remnants of her mothers wedding gown.

The bride’s beach girl side was incorporated into the gorgeous cake with edible sea shells, by Elaine Mincey.

Guests were welcomed to the cocktail hour with Charleston gates featuring blue and cream hydrangaes, charleston lanterns,

and an ” Avenue of Oaks” covered with Spanish moss.

The Charleston theme was carried out at dinner with tables named after Charleston Streets,

the Engaging Events team took black and white photo’s of the street signs, matted and framed them -

they have now become a keepsake for the happy couple!

Special thanks to Studio R for the custom monogram which was used throughout the weekend.

Briana and Ben’s Rehearsal Dinner

Sandcastle

October 29, 2010

Ben and Briana Kicked off their wedding weekend of festivities at the Sandcastle on Kiawah Island.

All of their wedding guests were invited to a nite of fabulous food and good cheer.

They celebrated with their family and friends on the eve of their wedding to the cool sounds of Rotie Salley of Soulfish singing and playing guitar.

Their favorite lowcountry eats were also served- oyster po boys, fried chicken, homemade mac n cheese, shrimp and grits just to name a few.

It was a fun filled nite and the perfect way to kick off the weekend!

Ben’s prized possession, his boat “Po Boy” was the centerpiece of the room…

The gum paste boat was created by Elaine Mincey;

and miniature cupcakes were the perfect dessert item after all the fabulous southern but filling food.

Briana and Ben were looking for a more relaxed rehearsal dinner anxious for everyone to arrive to the island and just kick back and enjoy!

Judy Johnston created center pieces with sand, shells and beach grass to set the tone.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

McLean001

Kia and Antwan are a fantastic couple- searching for a wedding that was not only fun but incorporated a lot of personal touches.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Ocean Club at the Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach.

The ceremony was held on the  terrace overlooking the ocean, a million dollar view and the weather could not have been better!

Kia and her bridesmaid’s bouquets were a gorgeous arrangement of white and purple orchids created  by our own  Judy Johnston.

After the ceremony, guests headed  poolside for cocktails and hors d’eouvres where the specialty drink was grape lemonade garnished with a “M” stir stick (stands for McLean ~their last name:)).

The design of the stir stick was taken from their custom invitations- many thanks to Studio R Designs for all their help!

McLean018

After cocktails and then dinner in the elegant Ocean Club dining room….. guests headed to the  dance tent (otherwise known as the “McLean Dance Lounge” for dancing and desserts.

Everyone enjoyed cake, cupcakes adorned with edible diamond rings,  and a candy display ~ with what else?~ purple candy!

The tent had so many fun touches like these purple zebra pillows with custom drum shades to match!

Rue De Jean Welcome Party

Jen & Matt are from New Jersey, as are the majority of their wedding guests, so they decided to have a welcome party/Rehearsal Dinner for all the guest that traveled down for the wedding.  Matt’s parents wanted to bring the beach and some of it’s fabulous fall features into the rehearsal party – But, also choose a venue in downtown Charleston.  Upstairs Rue de Jean was decided on but, with no visible water nearby, what was a designer to do?  Well, Judy Johnston and Cindy worked together to bring one of the more visible elements of the beach in the fall to life – Wheat was used to mimic the sea oats and sand, then a little blue color was added to create a very welcoming vibe but also, the Charleston Fall Beach theme that they were hoping for.  And let me tell you, once these were added to the already beautiful exposed brick and wood beams at upstairs Rue de Jean, it really made the wheat and blue colors stand out!
