The Ocean Club at  Grande Dunes

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

McLean001

Kia and Antwan are a fantastic couple- searching for a wedding that was not only fun but incorporated a lot of personal touches.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Ocean Club at the Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach.

The ceremony was held on the  terrace overlooking the ocean, a million dollar view and the weather could not have been better!

Kia and her bridesmaid’s bouquets were a gorgeous arrangement of white and purple orchids created  by our own  Judy Johnston.

After the ceremony, guests headed  poolside for cocktails and hors d’eouvres where the specialty drink was grape lemonade garnished with a “M” stir stick (stands for McLean ~their last name:)).

The design of the stir stick was taken from their custom invitations- many thanks to Studio R Designs for all their help!

After cocktails and then dinner in the elegant Ocean Club dining room….. guests headed to the  dance tent (otherwise known as the “McLean Dance Lounge” for dancing and desserts.

Everyone enjoyed cake, cupcakes adorned with edible diamond rings,  and a candy display ~ with what else?~ purple candy!

The tent had so many fun touches like these purple zebra pillows with custom drum shades to match!

We were so happy to be a part of Chloe and Preston’s Wedding…they are a super couple

and their wedding had so many wonderful unique touches!

 Blog blog4

Their ceremony took place under the big beautiful oak at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation -

overlooking the Ashley River. We utilized Charleston Gates covered with spanish moss, greenery, dendrobium orchids

and planter boxes filled with cream hydrangae as the backdrop for their ceremony.

Their guests enjoyed the ceremony from the authentic Church Pews,

shaded with umbrella’s and decorated with mason jars filled with flowers.

The Inside of the Carriage House featured the chandeliers decorated with spanish moss, greenery and white blossoms.

We utilized soft aqua blue color linen with an apple green linen and natural wood chairs for a soft and pretty atmosphere.

Engaging Events added to the look by draping fabric over the doorways,

and utilizing sweet grass baskets as containers for her wildflowers.

Chloe’s dress and the location were a big inspiration in much of the design.

Studio R created save the dates, invitations and these great bands and seals for her specialty drink

utilizing the lace pattern from her dress and the magnolia blossom to represent  the location.

Elaine Mincey utilized the lace design in the pattern you see on the cake, and then topped it with one of her signature magnolias.

Many thanks to all the vendors who made this nite so magical for Chloe and Preston, and to Taylor Stewart and MCG Photography for the great images!

Megan and Scott tied the knot on July 24th at the Pavilion at Patriots Point.

It was a sunny yet balmy day in the lowcountry as most July weddings are…but love was in the air:)

The Reception tent was airconditioned (thank goodness!) but the clear sidewalls of the tent still

enabled their guests to enjoy that fabulous Harbor View.

Engaging Events utilized the white tent liner and added white pole covers and our crystal chandeliers to dress the space.

Add in a crinkle blue taffeta cloth for the tables, taupe napkins and chair sashes- and voila- that cool summer feel was on its way!

Our fabulous florist- Judy Johnston and team created low and tall floral centerpieces using blue hydrangae, bare grasses, pittosporum, orchids and branches.

The Dinner Buffet Arrangement consisted of sand blasted manzanita branches embellished with blue and clear crystals and Phaleonopsis Orchids.

Our many Congratulations to Megan and Scott- we hope your lives are full of fun and romance just like this special day!

Melissa and Pablo

The Historic Rice Mill

July 3, 2010

ceremony

Melissa and Pablo were married on the patio of the Historic Rice Mill Building overlooking charleston harbor and Marina.

Melissa’s color scheme and “theme” was the peacock feather, we used a deep rich blue, turquoise, and green’s creating a rich, soft and pretty design.

bouquet flower girl

Melissa’s Bouquet and her flower girls pomander balls were designed to be very natural, and earthy in design utilizing:

scabiosa, delphinium, hyacinth, garden roses, dusty miller and berries for a colorful yet earthy look.

Cake lamps

The wedding cake was created by Elaine Mincey and embellished with peacock feathers,

utilizing Engaging Events own custom designed cake stand covered in seaglass.

We also dressed up our pendant lampshades utilizing the peacock feathers for the patio of the Rice Mill.

A good time was had by all, special thanks to Good Food Catering for the fabulous eats,

Elaine Mincey for the oh so perfect wedding cake,

the Charleston Chamber Players for the timeless, and romantic ceremony music,

and our own Judy Johnston for the fabulous flowers.

This wedding is a perfect example of our goal to create a wedding “uniquely you”. Kara loves pink, I mean loves it,

so we used oodles of it throughout her wedding. Her color palette of bright pink, orange and lime green is surprising to some, refreshing to others and gorgeous to us!

The ceremony took place on the lawn overlooking Charleston Harbor.

In lieu of traditional chair flowers we used our shepards hooks and hung cute vases of flowers to line the aisle.

The “altar” area featured bright pink carnation balls- fashioned by our own Judy Johnston.

Ok, so another thing Kara loved was polka dots, and lots of them.

We fashioned her save the dates and her wedding invites with them. Designed by Studio R, the backside of her invite panel was the design above (polka dots with their intials)

so we worked with Studio R and a local print shop creating this laminated board that Kara could easily frame for her home later.

For the wedding it served as the placecard display- we glue dotted the escort envelopes to the board and as each guest picked up their card–

more, and more of the design of the board was revealed.

I think this center photo says it all….what a colorful beautiful tent. We glammed it up a bit using our crystal chandeliers.

You’ve seen our glass tower used for drinks many times, but this time it held the shrimp tinis guests enjoyed at the cocktail hour.

Many thanks to Duvall Catering for a fabulous meal.

Gorgeous flowers as always- Many thanks Judy!

Kara and Scott provided us with photo’s of the two of them throughout their relationship in many of their favorite places,

we used the names of the different places as their table names, framed the photo’s and voila!

Lindsay and Ben are adorable, sweet, fun and most of all in love:)

Lindsay’s design taste was unique in that she didn’t like things to “match” too much, she likes organic touches and all things “green”,

St. Lukes & The Historic Rice Mill

June 5, 2010

We were proud to be a part of Lauren and Christopher’s special day.  Thank you to Liz Duren for these lovely set up photo’s.

0010 0014

Lauren’s Bridesmaids wore beautiful smoky blue gowns and we adorned the chapel with Lauren’s favorite combination

of pinks, corals, yellows, cream and peach flowers.

0032 0040

As guests arrived at the Rice Mill they were greeted with hanging  lanterns in the tree’s as well as this charming placecard board.

We adorned it with little yellow daisy’s in a circle pattern mimicing the circle patterns from her invites from TGK Designs.

0002 0060 0068 0063

Lauren wanted a DIY project and created her own programs using her monogram and that circle pattern.

Elaine Mincey fashioned a fabulous cake using the wedding invitations circle and dots pattern as her inspiration.

Judy Johnston -our ever awe inspiring florist- created beautiful florals in these wonderful spring colors.

The Historic Rice Mill never disappoints—with its hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and stunning harbor views, and amazing lighting-

a romantic beautiful setting is never too hard to come by.

Here you will see that great smoky blue color in the linens, a romantic and stunning headtable, and Engaging Events handy work creating a fun

and fabulous patio setting using green draping and our white asian lanterns for the ceiling.

Our many thanks to Lauren and Christopher for allowing us to be a part of their special day!
